Blue as Blue Can Be

I am blue as ocean waves, with white-capped peaks and bottomless depths.
I am as green as grass, freshly mown--any greener and I'd have to have been born yesterday.
I am red as shame after Eve's fall. Was it really so wrong?

I am a song never sung to just anyone, but a song nonetheless.
I am a poet, though I haven't felt like one of late.
I am nothing to me and can't expect better from anyone else.

But I am as red as passion clasped tight in naked arms, held, enthralled.
And I am green as envy--you have accomplished so much more than me.
And I am bluer than a frostbitten tongue.

Blue enough, it would seem, for both you and me.
